Sew Nature
An exhibition of stitched works based in nature
by Amanda Danells-Bewley

This summer I opened the doors to Sew Nature, my first exhibition, and what an incredible experience it was. Over 40 people came to visit the cabin, studio and garden, and it was such a joy to share my work and chat with so many lovely people.
Rooted in my personal response to my garden, the flora and fauna around me, and the wider natural landscapes that inspire my making, Sew Nature brought together recent stitched pieces alongside selected works created over several years. The exhibition reflected recurring themes of connection to nature, outdoor living, and the quiet, contemplative process of working with textiles.
Every piece was hand stitched using preloved or found materials, and I often used plants from my garden to naturally dye the fabrics. Seeing people connect with these pieces was incredibly special, and I was quite emotional to see that almost all of the work found new homes.
The exhibition was also an important part of my current MA studies in Creative Practice, alongside my ongoing exploration of low-impact, nature-based creative sessions that combine making with grounding and mindful practices.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, bought a piece, shared kind words, or simply took the time to visit.
If you missed the exhibition, and would like to see and read about the pieces on show, then why not visit the virtual reality art gallery, now showing my work HERE
